The Sportico study concludes that the Dallas Cowboys are the most expensive sports franchise in the world. Its estimated value is $7.64 billion, which is $630 million more than the New York Yankees.
Sportico bases its conclusions on conversations with 30 bankers, lawyers, functionaries, team owners, experts involved in the world of American sports, and public records.
The average price of an NFL club is $4.1 billion, up 18 percent from 2021. Sixteen teams are valued at more than $4 billion. By comparison, only four NBA clubs and three MLB clubs boast the same results.
